VoIP ‘attractive for even the smallest business’
Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) is not only beneficial to larger corporations, according to one expert. Margaret Hopkins, associate at consultancy firm Analyses, suggested there are advantages for even small firms to using the technology.
Small firms can benefit from adopting voice over internet protocol (VoIP) telephony but many small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are unaware of just what the system has to offer.
Small businesses in the UK are losing more than £1 billion per year by sticking to their old telecoms systems and not adopting VoIP, according to a new survey by Inclarity.
The survey of more than 500 managers of small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) found that only 12 per cent of firms are using VoIP while 76 per cent of managers have limited or no understanding of the technology.
With the Avaya communications, customers are able to take advantage of Avaya IP Office communications applications that drive productivity for remote workers, mobile workers and ensure business continuity when unexpected absenteeism (at home emergency, snow days, etc.) prevent staff from being in the office.
The solution enables workers to be productive at times and in places where they would find it difficult if not impossible to communicate with colleagues, customers and suppliers.
A report on the VoIP News website recently noted that small firms who fail to adopt IP telephony solutions will put themselves "at a competitive disadvantage".
